 Why Choose a Member? 
The LCA was formed in 1979 with an aim to raise the public perception of the landscape industry via increased quality in landscape construction works. Now highly regarded the Association has earned the respect of the construction industry, statutory bodies and other associated professionals.
 Code of Ethics  
In the interests of professionalism, Members annually agreed to adhere to the LCA's Code of Ethics. It is believed that this essential element of Membership serves to secure community trust.

 Meeting the Membership Criteria 
Membership can fall into one of four categories: Full, Affiliate (Trade/Service), Affiliate (Supply), or Student. In NSW licences are required and issued by the Office of Fair Trading, subject to the scope of works being carried out. In ACT licenses are not required.
 Contracted Works 
Under the “Home Warranty Act” a written contract is required by law for all projects with a labour component in excess of $1000. All LCA Members are requested to comply with this legislation and, have exclusive access to the LCA developed Landscape Works Agreements.
 Home Warranty Insurance 
All residential landscape works involving any type of hard construction over a specified value by the Office of Fair Trading must be covered by this insurance.

 Quality Workmanship 
Many LCA Members hold specialist qualifications in related fields. The Contractor's professionalism, integrity and conduct in dealings with clients are investigated as part of the application process and Membership is only granted if the conducted site inspections meet the high standard required.
 Financial Integrity 
Upon application, all potential Members are subject to thorough credit checks and only a satisfactory result enables admission.
 Mediation Procedure 
The LCA comprises a wealth of knowledgeable and experienced professionals who have made themselves available for consultation in the unusual event where Mediation may be required between an LCA Member and their client. The effective process is a service offered initially free of charge, with a view to prompt and amicable resolution.
 Comprehensive Skill Set 
Masters of many crafts and skills, LCA Contractors may carry out concept design, look after practical work of creating the landscape and be able to suggest imaginative ways to solve the design challenges that may be encountered. Works can range from earthworks, new contours, paving, building pergolas or retaining walls, importing new soil or rocks, water features, lighting and electrical, through to selecting and planting the species of plants which adorn the garden. The Contractor needs to have an artistic ability and judgement and the experience to know what works best. A professional Landscape Contractor will have a comprehensive knowledge of the material options and plant species available to achieve the effects sought, the right scents, textures, colours, foliage, blossom and size. When projects are planned efficiently by qualified professionals there is no compromise between quality work, quality service and value for money.
